Siphon fish ladder proves its flexibility in the annex to a church

The Veluwe District Waterboard is making an effort to solve the barriers for fish migration in the Rode Beek, a small brook. One of the migration barriers was formed by a waterfall at the former location of a waterwheel. The waterfall was located inside an annex to a church in the village of Vaassen. As a result of the setting of the waterfall inside the small building little room was available for a passage facility to cover the 2.6 meter head difference.

The siphon fish ladder proved to be a suitable solution. The highly flexible concept enabled the realisation of an effective fish passage in the small space of the annex. The fish ladder at Vaassen is a unique example of the flexibility of the siphon fish ladder concept.
